As a child it was no big deal for me to see visions or angels, experience the future in dreams or hear the voice of Jesus.
But after college I married, stopped going to church and stopped talking with Jesus. When my marriage failed, I sought out a psychologist who had “just the thing” for my sensitivity–a research program at a local university for “people like [me].”
The program, under a Defense Department grant, involved a core of psychics. By day I taught Spanish and senior honors English; by night I reported to the lab, working on everything from mental telepathy to “remote viewing,” murder cases and mind control.
I became a frequent radio and television talk show guest and psychic panelist. I also delivered speeches on mind power and self-improvement to professionals and their spouses at national conventions.
I was on the platform at a national convention of bankers, about to deliver my one-two punch–“Do you know how powerful you are?”–when suddenly an explosion of light went off around me. Then I heard the unmistakable voice from my childhood: “Sandra, do you know how powerful I am?”
I knew it was Jesus! There I was, standing in front of 2,000 business people, too shook up to be cool and smooth.
Hurriedly, I wrapped up my speech and then walked off the stage. At the base of the platform, an elderly gent tugged at my sleeve and whispered, “Some light show!”
The next day my husband and I became born again. We began to read the Bible and listen to church on the radio.
Often we heard messages of intolerance toward anyone who had been involved in the New Age movement. It took several years for us to find the right church and for our lives to line up with the Word of God.
Today, my husband and I serve together in leadership in our church and as members of the prayer team.
For years, I spoke and wrote professionally about the powers of the mind. Now, I am blessed to be writing articles, Sunday school curriculum and a book, all for Jesus.
