When I was a young girl I grew up in a denominational church, I was baptized as an infant, confirmed in my teenage years, and yet I had no understanding of what Jesus really did for me. I did not know that Church attendance was not enough, but that I needed to be born again. And I certainly had no teaching about the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ to heal the sick.
I believe the main reason Christian people are sick and dying prematurely is that the Church on a whole has taken the healing message and shoved it in a closet and locked the door. It is time to unlock the door and allow people to hear the Good News about supernatural healing, so they can have a foundation of faith to stand on to believe for healing. The Bible says that faith comes by hearing, and by hearing the word of God (see Rom. 10:17).
The next time someone tries to tell you that God no longer heals, don’t listen. Instead, read God’s Word and find out what He has to say about the matter. Here are some Scriptures to help you get started on your healing journey.
The Father says about Himself:
“For I am the Lord who heals you” (Ex. 15:26).
“For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the Lord, because they called you an outcast, saying, ‘This is Zion whom no man cares for'” (Jer. 30:17).
“I will bring it health and healing, and I will heal them; and I will reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth” (Jer. 33:6).
“For I am the Lord, I do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed” (Mal. 3:6).
Concerning Healing for His children, the Lord says:
Healing is His children’s bread (see Mark 7:27).
Here are just a few things He says concerning Jesus and healing.
“Surely he has borne our grief and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed (Is. 53:4-5).
“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by being made a curse for us—as it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree'” (Gal. 3:13).
His body was broken for your healing (see 1 Cor. 11:24).
Jesus shed His blood seven times for our redemption, including healing (see Luke 22:41-44; Is. 50:6, 53:4-5; Matt. 27: 27-31; John 19:17-37).
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Heb. 13:8).
Jesus says of Himself about healing:
“I will. Be clean” (Luke 5:13).
“I came that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
“Look, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. And nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19).
“With men it is impossible, but not with God. For with God all things are possible” (Mark 10:27).
Where does sickness come from?
The thief, Satan, comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy (see John 10:10).
He says of the Holy Spirit concerning us:
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit that lives in you” (Rom. 8:11).
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you” (Acts 1:8).
He gives us wisdom on how to overcome:
“Seek the Lord and live” (Amos 5:6).
“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts” (Zech. 4:6).
“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith which works through love” (Gal. 5:6).
“Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Neh. 8:10).
“A merry heart does good like a medicine” (Prov. 17:22).
“they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:18).
“Is anyone sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord” (James 5:14).
You have the power of life and death in your tongue (see Prov. 18:21).
“Let us firmly hold the profession of our faith without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” (Heb. 10:23).
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (see Rom. 10:17).
And He gives us encouragement for difficult times if we choose to believe:
The Lord will sustain, refresh and strengthen you when you get sick (see Ps. 41:3).
You will not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord (see Ps. 118:17).
The Lord will preserve you and keep you alive (see Ps. 41:2).
He will satisfy you with long life (see Ps. 91:16).
You will not miscarry or be barren, but fulfill the number of your days (see Ex. 23:26).
He will bless your bread and your water, and will remove sickness from your midst (see Ps. 91:16).
He will give you strength and peace (see Ps. 29:11).
No evil or plague shall come near your dwelling (see Ps. 91:10).
No weapon formed against you will prosper (see Is. 54:17).
A prayer recorded in the Bible for you:
“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, even as your soul is well” (3 John 1:2).
