The Miracle That Mary Brought Into the World

Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus

This is the time of year that I believe a spark of hope ignites in our hearts as we recall the Mary Miracle. The Mary Miracle not only brought forth our Savior, but it gives us the hope of divine possibilities in our lives.

We must be open to God’s miracle power to break through our mindsets of hurt and pain and our intellectual mindsets that separate our minds from our hearts. The born-again child of God, filled with the Spirit of the living God, has unlimited possibilities; and the Mary Miracle shows us the possibilities of miracles in our lives.

Are you ready for a divine interruption? I love reading the testimony of this young woman when she suddenly had a divine interruption in her life. Her response when Gabriel visited her shows us much about her character. Luke 1:29 tells us, “But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was” (NKJV, emphasis added). She was calm, cool and collected. She considered what manner of greeting this was! Quite a contrast to Zechariah as he tried to explain to Gabriel why it wouldn’t work! “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years” (Luke 1:18, NKJV). He was looking in the natural at their old age. As Gabriel told Mary, “For with God nothing will be impossible” (Luke 1:37, NKJV).

Mary quietly asked the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” (v. 34). She was not questioning the Word; she was asking for understanding. We can do the same. Paul prays for us in Ephesians 1:18 that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened. When we have revelation and understanding of the meaning of God’s Word, then faith comes and we can believe for the impossible.

There are promises God wants to bring into your life today. These promises invite us into the realm of impossibilities, the supernatural realm of God. Just like Mary, you have to be willing to receive the Word and ponder it until it grows in you so that you can change the world around you.

Mary was humbly submitted to what the Lord had for her, even though she knew it would definitely involve pain and humiliation. Mary was not forced to receive the Word. Her response was poured forth in praise from the Psalms hidden in her heart (Luke 1:47-55). She had been brought up hearing the testimonies of her people and God’s promises to them.

Life without God’s grace has limits, but with God all things are possible. The last we hear of Mary is in Acts 1:14 as she was with the disciples waiting for the promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit.

There are promises in the Word of God that pertain to life and godliness (2 Pet. 1:1-4). The Lord’s desire is to impart them into your spirit to bring life to any area of need you have. You have the Helper, the Holy Spirit, to open the eyes of your understanding. “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God” (1 Cor. 2:12, NKJV, emphasis added).

There is no excuse, because you have the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what has been freely given to you! “Come and dine,” the Master calls. Prepare your heart for a divine interruption! Remember, it does take time. It took Mary nine months!
