How Your Desperation Moves God’s Heart

woman crying

  • She had to humble herself

  • She had to admit her need.

That is usually our biggest problem, admitting our need and weakness.

The prophet told her to go and gather all the empty vessels she could find, and not a few! How was this going to help…now she was gathering everyone’s ‘nothing,’ empty vessels, to add to her nothing.

He also told her to ‘shut the door.’ That was no problem, she didn’t want anyone to see what she was doing. They were already talking about her running around the neighborhood gathering empty vessels. She was the laugh of the day.

Once she had gathered the vessels, she had to make another decision. Would she follow the instructions to pour from her little jar of oil. It looked so impossible. What was the purpose?

By faith she began to pour from her little jar of oil, trusting in the word from the man of God! She kept pouring and I’m sure the tears were flowing as she saw the miracle provision of God. Not only had He provided the need for the moment, but exceedingly, abundantly above all that she could ask or think! (Ephesians 3:20).

This is the same God that we serve! What is your need today? What’s in your house?

The Holy Spirit is in your house. “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” (1 Corinthians 6:19).

The Holy Spirit is your helper and you have an advantage over the world. “Nevertheless I tell you the truth, it is to your ADVANTAGE that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”

Are you desperate today? Does your situation look hopeless? All you have to do is ASK. The woman went to the prophet and asked for help. Be encouraged, have faith in HIS LOVE for you.
