Craig and I have been rather busy in our prophetic mentorship program this month. One feature we offered was a 20-minute, one-on-one meeting via Zoom. Meeting after meeting, we found prophets in front of us who craved one thing.
They don’t seek the limelight. They don’t need someone to tell them how great their word is. Rather, they look into our eyes and say, “I just never had someone choose me before.”
They were the kid left until very last when sport teams were chosen. And yet, standing in front of us, is a mighty warrior whom God has chosen to influence the nations. It’s hard not to feel my heart breaking every time I find a prophet lost in the wilderness.
I know that many in the church have seen the fiery hellfire and damnation prophet declare God’s Word from the pulpit. Today, though, I want to draw your attention to the NextGen prophet; the prophet whose heart has been broken more times than you will ever know.
I want to introduce you to the prophet who craves to work alongside his or her pastor or apostle. I want you to open your eyes to the next generation prophetic movement. God is calling His hidden prophets out of the wilderness and into the ministry trenches.
The prophet is more than the sum of his or her words. In fact, if you want to see true prophets, stop looking at their gifts; judge them by their hearts.
Calling Out the #NextGen Prophet
True prophets are ones whose hearts beat in time with Christ’s. Their heart breaks when His is broken. They’re angry when they see injustice. Their passion to save the oppressed gets them into hot water. (They often act out of their hearts instead of their heads!) They see ahead, so they open their mouths to warn everyone before the danger has even begun to show itself.
If we understood more about the prophet’s heart, perhaps we, as a church, could discern those who are genuine from those who aren’t. Look, guys, even a psychic can be accurate. Someone with a spirit of divination can foretell. However, neither of these can impart Christ’s heart to the bride. It takes a prophet to draw people into an experience of God’s love.
Here’s how to know if you’ve been in the presence of a prophet: You experienced Jesus for yourself. Our mandate as prophets isn’t to impress the world with our gifts. Our mandate is to introduce the bride to the groom.
The Lord is returning for a bride without spot and wrinkle. What makes a bride most attractive to her groom isn’t her dress; rather, it’s the sparkle in her eyes. This is what our bridegroom is looking for. He seeks out a bride who is passionately in love with Him. We qualify because we allow the Lord to keep our hearts vulnerable and tender.
So, to all the NextGen prophets out there, Craig and I have a message for you! Listen to “Why the Prophet Is Anointed to Heal the Broken-Hearted” and find out exactly how precious you are to the Father.
Luke 4:18 (NKJV):
“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;” {eoa}
