Engaging with Your Anointing

If you think about it, you probably already know that your history with God is your anointing on the earth. Every moment you’ve spent with Father God where you received something, such as peace, joy, restoration or anything life-giving, is a moment when you’ve been anointed.

Take a second now to identify some anointing deposits that you’ve received through different supernatural moments in your life. This doesn’t have to be limited to church experiences, although I am assuming you have a basic, biblical foundation here. For example, you may remember a time when you spoke with knowledge about something you could not have known without your relationship with the Holy Spirit. Maybe you opened up the Bible to a Scripture that you needed for that day; or a childhood experience with an angel that gave you peace; or dreams, visions, healings, course corrections and so on.

I believe supernatural encounters can be any moment you’ve had, big or small, when you really knew God was real. When that happens, it’s no longer your pastor’s faith or your parents’ faith; it’s yours. If you really knew God was real in that moment, then you received a deposit that can be shared with others. You might know this as well but the Bible calls that a “testimony.” Begin writing those testimonies down regardless of how big. Write them on a napkin if you must or somewhere you can keep them: notes on your phone, your journal or begin a journal of supernatural encounter testimonies somewhere.

As you collect those moments, consider giving them away and plan out how you will actually do that. Maybe you tell your testimony to a friend or it could be that you reflect on a time of peace on behalf of a tense business meeting. That’s it. You are now releasing your God-given anointing on the earth! Way to go! And on behalf of the rest of us, I want to thank you! Every time you release your heavenly experiences, you make the earth more like heaven.

In fact, having a basic understanding of where to look for your own God-given anointing can change the entire course of your life. For example, if you know it’s easy for you to maintain purity in a dark environment or that you’re courageous when others are afraid, then you might know what to do with your ministry or your career.

You need to know that the fallen earth around you has a deficit of heaven and any time that you’ve engaged with heavenly realities, like it says in Colossians 3:1-4 or throughout the book of Ephesians, you have acquired an anointing supply that can undo that lack and make earth more like heaven. Maybe it’s just for the one person in front of you or maybe you can shift the atmosphere and rhythms of a nation. The earth doesn’t need more earth to look more like heaven; the earth needs more heaven. {eoa}
