“The witches and the warlocks and the sorcerers, they all know that authority has been given to us so they want it,” Souza says. “We have to learn what it is that allows these witchcraft curses to land because the Bible says the causeless curse cannot light…we have to find out what are the causes, what are the landing that allows witchcraft curses to take us out.”
Souza then explained Luke 10:19 which reads: “Look, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. And nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

“We’ve been given authority. It means the power of judicial decisions against what? Serpents, scorpions and all the power of the enemy and nothing shall in any means harm you,” says Souza.
One of the things Souza points out is that there is a connection between witchcraft and the spirit of python.
“Witches and serpents always work together,” she says.
Another important thing Souza also mentions is how idolatry can allow these curses to take hold in our lives. She also notes how the woman with the spirit of divination in the book of Acts was connected to a land known for their idolatry.
“In that region where Paul was at at that time, they actually worshiped the serpent. It was an idol…idols in your life allow witches to assault you,” says Souza.
During this time when the demonic forces are looking for any way possible to harass God’s people, we need to come before God’s throne of grace and seek Him, strengthened by His power and authority so we can trust Him and release any idols that may be keeping us from true freedom.
