People have got to wonder what is in store for humanity as the home to the world’s most powerful religious organization, the Vatican, is preparing new guidelines on how to deal with supernatural phenomena.

It’s almost like a clue as to what is expected to happen in the near future.

As reported by Fox News, “The Holy See Press Office announced the upcoming document will be published May 17 with a live-streamed press conference featuring Prefect for the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández.”

This shouldn’t come as shocking topic of discussion to Christians, but it seems many today have abandoned the supernatural aspect of the Bible, even though spiritual warfare against demons, principalities, powers and rulers of darkness is an oft-discussed topic in the Word of God.

Fernández has said in the past that the new text will come with “clear guidelines and norms for the discernment of apparitions and other phenomena,” as reported by the National Catholic Register.

Well, good on the Catholic Church for at least recognizing the significance behind the spiritual realm and its effect on the natural.

But Christians who do not subscribe to the Catholic view of Christianity need to be aware that things are worded and phrased a bit differently than your mainline Protestant, Pentecostal or non-denominational Christian may be used to hearing.

Case in point, an “apparition” is a distinctly divine entity, meaning it would be a saint, the virgin Mary or Jesus.

Many Christians today believe that such visions exist, perhaps with less of an emphasis on Mary and more on angelic beings and Jesus, but there have been just as many who have labeled such occurrences and events as “charismaniac nonsense.”

Well, we are seeing the evidence of the spiritual war taking place all around us, as the earth continues its self-destructive spiral away from the tenets of God.

But one thing all Christians can (or should) agree with Catholics on is the need for biblical discernment.

The Bible warns of deception and false teachers, and if we are not rooted firmly in the truth of the Bible, many, even the elect, will fall victim to these deceptions.

So stay prayed up, fast and spend daily time in the Word of God so that the snares of the enemy fail and God’s truth is instead revealed to the world.
