It is foolish to view Satan as all-powerful because only God is all-powerful.
In fact, power belongs exclusively to God. When God kicked Satan out of heaven, He certainly didn’t release him with unlimited power. God is using Satan even now to reveal the heart of humanity by separating the just from the unjust. But Satan doesn’t have any real power over God—or even us!
“Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years” (Rev. 20:1–2, NKJV).
This is an amazing passage of Scripture. After the Great Tribulation, one angel binds up the devil and casts him into the pit. Not Jesus, not an army of angels, not even an archangel like Michael or Gabriel; it just takes one ordinary angel.
Why do we worry so much about the devil? He does not have the power to defeat even one angel. And the angels of the Lord are on your side!
“For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone” (Ps. 91:11–12, NLT).
Satan has limited power—but not only that. Satan also has boundaries.
