Is it possible for believers to be under the power of witchcraft?
In a recent livestream, prophetic voice Jeremiah Johnson shared the three keys that point to someone either working in witchcraft or being under the influence of a witchcraft attack.
Each of these are rooted in rebellion and a desire to control people, some Johnson points out as being wildly different than the free will that God gives us to make our choices and decisions.
“Let me give you three primary signs that either you’re operating in witchcraft or the spirit of witchcraft is operating against you,” Johnson says. “Number one, manipulation, number two, intimidation and number three, domination.”
If you see someone trying to manipulate, intimidate or dominate you, there is likely a spirit of witchcraft that is coming against. As Johnson notes, these attacks tend to happen most frequently when there is an absence of genuine love. In our human nature, we tend to add stipulations as to how we care about others. However, this is not the kind of love we are called to adhere to.
“A lot of people don’t know how to have healthy relationships that are motivated by love,” Johnson says. “We don’t know how to love one another without strings attached. We don’t know how to serve one another. We don’t know how to walk in humility, and so what we do is we try to control people through tactics…”

While we desire for the world to go according to our own plans, acting in rebellious, controlling ways is far from the ways of God. However, it is possible to have freedom from the spirit of witchcraft.
“Number one, how we get freedom from witchcraft is we keep obeying God,” Johnson says. “Do not give up, do not give in, do not allow that bullying.”
Johnson also says the power of continual prayer will also help to overcome the spiritual grip of witchcraft.
“You’ve got to pray through; you’ve got to fight,” Johnson says. “A great way to overcome witchcraft is praying in tongues.”
Johnson also says that breaking off the power of witchcraft through Jesus’ name and by standing on the Word of God it is possible to see this rebellious force lifted off of you. For Johnson, there is also power in the tears that we cry through our situations.
“Witchcraft I really believe, it blinds our vision and it makes our heart sick,” Johnson says. “You’ve got to cry out to God, you’ve got to cry fresh tears and bless your enemies and release them to the Lord.”
This powerful message is a reminder that not all witchcraft comes in direct spells and potions against you. Instead, it sometimes comes through a rebellious teenager or a marriage that is breaking down with plenty of strings attached to it. However, through the blood of Christ, there is no power and no darkness greater than the resurrection power of Jesus.
