Rabbi Schneider (Strang Report)

Could the name of God reveal different dimensions of His nature?

In an exclusive interview with Charisma Media founder Stephen Strang, Rabbi Kirt Schneider discussed the power and the purpose behind God’s great and glorious names, and how they represent different aspects of His nature.

God’s name reveals who He is from the beginning.

When we think about the names of God, especially “Elohim,” they have a direct correlation to what God did in the beginning.

“When we think of the Hebrew Bible, rather we know it begins ‘in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth,’” Schneider says. “The Hebrew word for God in the original manuscript is Elohim, so what the Scripture actually says is ‘in the beginning, Elohim created the heavens and the earth.”

God reveals His relationship within the Trinity through the Scriptures.

God shows His own relationship within the Trinity throughout the Scriptures and within the Hebrew terms used to describe marriage.

“Elohim has actually revealed Himself as a multi-dimensional God,” Schneider says. “The Hebrew word for one there is the same word used in a man marrying a woman…nowhere does the Bible teach that God is a singular unity. On the other hand, what we do see revealed in Scripture in a hidden, prophetic way is that God is a compound unity. He’s one, yet He is multi-dimensional.”

Schneider says this multi-dimensional aspect comes from the fact that God has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Spirit.

God has revealed His true nature, His identity through His name.

It was when God revealed Himself as Yahweh to Moses that we see God unveiling Himself for who He truly is: The Great I AM. By revealing Himself in this way, we have been given a glimpse into who God exactly is, and the greater reality that He is not without desiring a connection between Himself and us.

“When we think of God, sometimes, we think of Him, kind of as this impersonal God, that maybe is the Creator and is all powerful and knows everything, but sometimes we lack the sensitivity to realize that He’s not just all powerful but He’s a person,” Schneider says.

The names of God reveal that He is our source.

By God revealing Himself by name, He shows that He is our provision and desires to know us intimately.

“It’s an encouragement for us to trust God to be our source,” Schneider says. “The first revelation of Yahweh in relationship to what He does for those who are in covenant relationship with Him is that He provides for them…when we realize the Lord is our provider, that our God shall supply all our needs according to His riches and glory, freedom is birthed into our life.”

By understanding that God’s nature is so much more than what we see on the surface and that His heart is for us, we can enter into a deeper and more impactful relationship with the King of Kings.
