And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. —Ezekiel 22:30
A father does not need to be a Bible scholar to function as the priest in his home. The most powerful experiences in my childhood were the times my father gathered us to pray. He was not an eloquent man, but when he prayed I knew no devil was big enough to come against him.
Children today, more than ever, need the covering of their father’s prayers. They need their fathers to speak strength and blessing into their lives and to plead the blood of Jesus over them.
You may think this message does not apply to you because you are not a father or your own children are grown. Yet you know someone who is a father; you may know of children who are hurting because their fathers are not nurturing them in the Lord. Pray for them. Plead the blood over those unprotected children. Invite the Holy Spirit to turn their fathers’ hearts back home. Stand in the gap and intercede for the preservation of our righteous seed.
God needs You to stand in the gap for your family, church, and nation. He is looking for intercessors who will seek His face on behalf of others. Are you willing to stand in the gap?
Father, pray through me with Your Spirit
so that I will be able to stand
in the gap for others. Amen.
