When Jordan Feliz’s hit single, “The River,” reached Christian radio, it was the culmination of a long musical journey for him. Feliz, who grew up in the church, has a passion for serving God through music. First, he was the lead singer for the hard rock band A Current Affair. Then, after the band broke up, he became a church worship pastor. Now, he and his wife live in Nashville, where he’s writing and recording solo music that praises the Lord.
Feliz says his passion is finding ways to mesh creativity and musical excellence with uplifting, worshipful lyrics.
“I am really a big believer in writing music that correlates with a lyric that is edifying and glorifying the Lord,” Feliz says. “Putting those two things together is honestly a passion for me. It’s actually a challenge to do it, because sometimes finding the perfect lyric that goes with something like a drumbeat can be challenging at times, but it’s worth striving to write a song that people can’t live without.”
He says that if his music can bring people closer to the love of God, he’s doing his job effectively.
“I want people to know when they listen to the music that, first off, I want them to feel uplifted, and then I want them to understand no matter where they are, what they’ve done, what they’re going to do, there is absolutely nothing that would separate them from the love of Christ.”
Feliz’s new album, The River, is now available on iTunes, Amazon and wherever Christian music is sold. —Taylor Berglund
