Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly-.-.-.-for God loveth a cheerful giver. —2 Corinthians 9:7
God cares about how much you give, and He cares about your attitude when you give to Him. He does not bless the so-called Christian who begrudgingly tosses a tip in the offering bucket.
Time and again the Bible tells of those who gave sacrificially, honoring Him and acknowledging Him as their provider (1 Samuel 2:1-10; Acts 10:1-4; Judges 11:30-31).
It is not the amount of the gift that is important to God, but the amount of the sacrifice in giving it. It is easy to give out of your abundance when there is no sacrifice involved. But like the widow who gave everything she had, could you do the same? (Mark 12:42-44).
Whatever you give to God—your finances, your time, or your talent—give sacrificially out of love for all He gave for you. Are you having problems recalling how blessed you are? Psalm 103:2-5 will remind you of your blessings and is today’s prayer of praise:
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.
He forgives all my iniquities and heals all my diseases.
He redeems my life from destruction, and crowns me
with lovingkindness and tender mercies. He
satisfies my mouth with good things, so
that my youth is renewed
like the eagles. Amen.
