Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. —Hebrews 4:14
Whatever you talk about is your confession. If you are continually confessing how much trouble the devil is causing, how bad your finances are or how rotten your spouse is, rest assured that your words will ring true.
When the Bible directs us to “hold fast” to our profession, we are being told to hold onto what the Bible says about our situation with bulldog faith—the kind that does not let go.
You are going to have trouble in this life, but if you will hold fast to your confession of faith you can be assured of victory, because you have been blessed with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3). You have been redeemed, forgiven, and are a recipient of His lavish grace (Ephesians 1:7-8). You have been delivered (rescued) from the domain of darkness (Satan’s rule) and transferred to the kingdom of Christ (Colossians 1:13). You have been given a spirit of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
Jesus, I am holding fast to You. I hold
fast to the truth of my confession
in You as Lord and Savior. I have
the assurance that You will see
me through every valley and
lead me through every
storm. Amen.
