The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. —Proverbs 21:1
Satan is just another would-be king. He wanted to be king of the universe, to exalt his throne above the throne of God. But God gave the command for Satan to be cast down from heaven, and he fell to the earth like lightning. He usurped the first Adam’s dominion on this planet and now rules a recaptured kingdom with an expiring lease.
The devil wants to be king of your life. He wants to be king of your mind, ruler of your home and monarch over your finances. But God said, “Satan’s heart is in my hand. When I speak, he moves. I am King of kings!”
The psalmist declared, “Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory” (Psalm 24:9-10).
So lift up your head and open your heart. Cast out the pretender and allow the King of glory to enter in!
Jesus, rule my life. Issue Your orders
and I will obey. The pretender’s voice
falls upon my deaf ears. I chose to
listen only to Your voice and to
obey Your commands. Amen.
