Embrace God’s Call to Become a ‘Holy Nation’—And Unlock Your Purpose

Have you ever experienced “identity theft”? I have. Several years ago, I was purchasing gas at a convenience store in North Carolina. I slipped my debit card into gas pump and started pumping gas into my car. Within a few minutes, I purchased a refrigerator in Kansas and paid for a haircut at a salon in California. Thankfully, I got an alert, called my bank and everything was reversed. But it impressed my mind with the realization that this takes place spiritually too.

How is a person’s identity stolen spiritually? This happens when satanic forces, or the world, or the lower nature entices you or convinces you to walk contrary to who God has called you to be, the roles He has called you to fill.

Two times God refers to His people in Scripture as “a holy nation” (Ex. 19:5-6, 1 Pet. 2:9).

The word holy is from the Hebrew word qadosh and the Greek word hagios. Both are also translated into the word “saint,” which has a double meaning. A saint is a sanctified person, meaning “cleansed from the defilement of sin” or “separated unto God for His holy use.”

So the word “holy” means to be set apart, separated from the world and consecrated to God. It comes from a root that means whole or sound. Holiness is one of the essential attributes of God. It means, on the one hand, freedom from all moral evil; on the other hand, it means the absolute of what is morally good.

The miracle of the new covenant is the impartation of holiness. God doesn’t just call us to live a holy life; He transforms us inwardly, saturating us with His nature and empowering us to walk in holiness in this world. The Scripture that most reveals this is Ephesians 4:22-24, the exhortation to “put off the former way of life in the old nature, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that you put on the new nature, which was created according to God in righteousness and true holiness.”

This episode of Discovering Your Spiritual Identity on the Charisma Podcast Network is going to be “holy ground” for you—a sacred place that brings supernatural transformation. Moses and Joshua both came to “holy ground,” and it was a radical turning point in their lives. Listen to the rest of this teaching. It may be a burning bush for you that God will speak out of to launch you into your purpose and destiny. {eoa}
