Are You Looking at the Scene or the Seen?

Have you ever been on a Zoom call and seen an elaborate home adorned with marble floors and a spiral staircase only to find out its merely a backdrop? You were looking at the seen. You saw a fabricated scene and not their true reality.

I call that the Carnal Reality; it’s what the physical senses perceive and judge as reality. Yet, we are required to live from an eternal reality.

Hebrews 11:6 (NASB1995) says, “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”

That eternal reality of truth is just beyond that backdrop you are being shown. Do you see it?

Second Corinthians 4:18 says, “while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

Did you notice that Scripture says to “Look not at the seen”? It’s directing you to look but not focus on it. Don’t allow the seen to become your scene!

You conduct your entire life in both the seen and unseen realms, believe it or not.

The question is, which realm do you live from?

The realm in which you live from becomes your reality. Are you seeing the reality of truth or are you just seeing a backdrop?

How do you live from the unseen? It is done intentionally.

Being fully persuaded in what you cannot see with your physical eyes is mandatory!

Let’s refer to the Concordance to understand the original Greek meaning of “unseen.”

Unseen—Greek – 82 ádēlos (from 1 /A “not” and 1212 /dlos, “self-evident”)—properly, unclear, indistinct, not immediately obvious (evident); (figuratively) indefinite, uncertain; not evident (perceived), unrecognized.

Notice it says it’s not immediately obvious, not evident and unrecognized. It does not say that it is not created! In fact, it clarifies that it is there—you just cannot physically see it!

Now look at the word “believe” in the original Greek.

Believe—Greek – 4100 pisteúō (from 4102 /pístis, “faith,” derived from 3982 /peíthō, “persuade, be persuaded”)—believe (affirm, have confidence); used of persuading oneself (= human believing) and with the sacred significance of being persuaded by the Lord (= faith-believing).

Scripture is not asking that you believe to make something appear that isn’t there. It’s telling you that you can believe because it is there!

Second Corinthians 5:7 says, “for we walk by faith, not by sight”

You must choose to function from the unseen and not the seen.

Second Kings 6:16-17 says, “So he answered, ‘Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ Then Elisha prayed and said, ‘O Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.’ And the Lord opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

The horses and chariots were already there. They were in the unseen. They were not immediately obvious; they were unrecognized. Why? Because he was looking at the scene and not the unseen.

That complicated scene playing out before your eyes is temporal and is going to change, so be fully persuaded and just keep looking. {eoa}
