And He hast made us unto our God kings and priests; and we shall reign on the earth. —Revelation 5:10
A literal translation renders this verse not “kings and priests” but rather “a kingdom of priests.” Fifteen hundred years before Jesus ever came to the earth, God told His people they would be a kingdom of priests (Exodus 19:6).
But when Moses went unto the mountain with God, the people rebelled, making a golden calf (Exodus 32:1-4). Seeing what they had done, Moses broke the tablets of God’s law, saying, “Who is on the Lord’s side let him come unto me” (v. 26). And only the Levites came.
God is now fulfilling His original plan through you and me—His church! Just as the priests of the Old Testament bore the ark on their shoulders, we are to bear His glory wherever we go—the malls, the streets, or the workplace. We have all been called into kingdom priesthood and anointed with the power of the Holy Spirit to minister the saving gospel of Jesus Christ.
You are part of a holy nation, a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). Live today as a priest, a minister, an intercessor, and one anointed to take the gospel into every area of life.
Jesus, teach me to be a priest. Help
me to intercede. Give me the desire to
minister to You in every locale of life.
Amen.
