This Prayer Initiative Is Empowering Believers in the Capital

Rioting at the Capitol in Washington, D.C., shocked our nation. In light of the chaos of that day, the city of Washington, D.C., was essentially shut down leading up to the presidential inauguration. But did you know that there was one assembly that continued in the city, day and night, even during the inauguration?

David’s Tent DC has hosted a tent of 24/7 live worship and prayer since September 2015. Even amid the rioting at the Capitol, David’s Tent DC maintained a refuge of God’s presence and worshipped Jesus. David’s Tent DC founder Jason Hershey reported on his Facebook following the Capitol riot that “the anointing of the Holy Spirit was being poured out over and over at David’s Tent. I witnessed joy, peace, tears, singing, dancing, smiling on many faces.” A tent of worship became a place refuge within the pandemonium.

While the tent has recently moved from its usual position on the National Mall as a result of the unique unrest in our nation’s capital, the love song to Jesus has never stopped for more than five years. A small team of YWAM missionaries administers the tent, while thousands of worship teams and volunteers from around the nation help fill the slots with praise and intercession. Night and day, cold and hot, the incense of adoration rises to the Lord.

As Jesus is enthroned in constant praise (Ps. 22:3), the kingdom of God is made manifest. The King of kings is exalted above the governments of men. Miracles are happening. Souls are being saved. But this outpost of God’s kingdom has not been without its trials. Light and dark are colliding. Spiritual warfare is abounding. And the enemy rages against the exaltation of the Son of God in America.

Jason Hershey was recently interviewed on episode 57 of the Presence Pioneers podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network. You can tune in to learn more about David’s Tent DC, hear the amazing testimonies and discover their incredible challenges in sustaining the 24/7 worship and prayer in a tent in the capital of the United States. {eoa}
