In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. —Ephesians 1:11-12
Discovering that Jesus is the essential source of spiritual delight is an important part of our progression toward maturity, and the Lord does not want that process disturbed. He leaves us right where we are for a season: growing in the knowledge of His loveliness and faithfulness and feeling increasingly secure and satisfied. But while we are discovering His beauty and delighting ourselves in Him, the Lord is sealing our spirits. We will never again be content with a life of compromise that neglects spiritual intimacy. We have an inheritance in God, but God also has an inheritance in us. What an incredible thought: God, who possesses everything, has something He waits for—His inheritance in us.
{ PRAYER STARTER }
Father, when I feel as though I am merely “marking time” instead of marching into victory, help me to understand that You are placing me in a season of spiritual growth and preparation for what lies ahead.
We are equipped and matured to be coheirs
and share Christ’s heart, His home, His throne forever.
