It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. —1 Corinthians 1:30
We must adopt an offensive posture if we are to break free from a stronghold. We must hunger for God and long to know Him intimately as we look back over our shoulders at temptation and say no. Our strong-willed determination to overcome our weaknesses and addictions is not our sanctification. Our sanctification is found in a person: Jesus Christ! When we are given just a little glimpse of the truth about Christ’s awesome beauty and splendor, we will bow before Him in awe, and with gladness and affection we will abandon ourselves to Him.
{ PRAYER STARTER }
Lord, I do hunger and thirst after Your righteousness. My hope is found only in You, Lord Jesus, and I submit myself to Your will so that I may overcome all the weakness in my human heart.
It’s by knowing the truth, then pursuing a person (God),
along with resisting unholy passions and
temptations, that we can walk in victory.
