Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. They know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. —Psalm 82:4-5
Satan’s goal is to keep us in darkness. His strategy is to distort or restrict our knowledge of God so that it is erroneous and inadequate. Thus we are weakened and held in bondage. Satan seeks to lay claim to every area of spiritual darkness that he can find in us, including wrong ideas and thought systems, sympathetic thoughts toward sin, and self-excusing rationalizations. He utilizes these to erect spiritual strongholds in us to protect his investments and interests in our lives.
{ PRAYER STARTER }
Father, when I am feeling weak, confused, and ineffective, help me to realize that a dark area in my spiritual life may be hiding some sinful habit or area of rebellion that needs to be exposed to God’s light and then destroyed. Let Your light shine on all the dark areas of my life, O God, and bring me into spiritual maturity.
Satan does not want the light of the knowledge of
God’s heart to invade our spiritual darkness.
