So also you, since you are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound for the edification of the church. —1 Corinthians 14:12, NAS
False assumptions about spiritual gifts and what they signify can eventually cause us to throw out something good or accept something bad. Power gifts do not necessarily endorse character or methodology. Nor do a prophet’s great miracles validate all his doctrine. The most important thing to remember is that “the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all” (1 Cor. 12:7, NKJV). Spiritual gifts are for the purpose of blessing the body of Christ, not exalting the person through whom they come. God delights in using weak and imperfect vessels in order that He might receive the glory.
{ PRAYER STARTER }
I thank You, Spirit, for the blessing of the spiritual gifts You have placed in our midst within Your body. May I never forget that the purpose of Your gifts is to bless Your people. Thank You for using weak and imperfect vessels to proclaim Your glory.
Don’t let being used by God in prophecy
and healing miracles become
“common” to you.
