Recently on an episode of Live Your Best Life With Liz Wright titled “Is He Lord of Your Life? w/ Rhonda Mathisen,” Rhonda Mathisen shares the Lord’s heart for the restoration of families and the preparation of the bride. Earlier this year, Jesus spoke to her clearly: “Tell the people to go home and stay home. Focus on their families and restore the spiritual foundations.”
She felt an urgency in the Lord’s invitation, and shortly after she received this word, the world went into lockdown! Mathisen really believes this call wasn’t just for lockdown but is a preparation for the days ahead. The bride of Christ is being prepared to come into agreement for when Jesus returns and the bride and the Spirit say, “Come.” It’s a level of agreement that we don’t yet understand.
Mathisen believes that “before we can become a bride, we have to become a family.” She says learning how to sit together and come under the lordship of Jesus is so key because He wants to be Lord of our families, our marriages and our homes. Being under His lordship aligns us with Psalm 91 protection. We can live under the wings and refuge of the Lord Himself by coming under His lordship at the very foundations of our lives. Living this way gives us the security we need in this hour, and the agreement with heaven allows us to help usher in the kingdom of God.
God is longing for that agreement with us, which is one of the reasons Mathisen wrote her new book, Restoring the Family Altar, a six-week prayer guide to restore the foundations of your family.
A healthy church starts with a healthy family. It’s time to restore the foundations of the lordship and presence of God in our homes!
