The Scriptural Reality of Speaking in New Tongues

“As it is said, ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion'” (Heb. 3:15, ESV).

In my college training the phrase “they shall speak with new tongues” (Mark 16:17) was somehow whited out, redacted and hidden from the eyes of all. Once I took off the blinders, I finally asked, “What exactly does that phrase mean?” I quickly learned that it means what the Bible said it means.

The beginning of the fulfillment of that phrase is recorded in Acts 2, when the Parthians and Medes and 14 other nationalities heard the Word of God spoken in their own language. The 120 people who gathered in the Upper Room on the day of Pentecost (Acts 1:15) were suddenly filled with the Holy Spirit and they “began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” (2:4).

Jonathan Cahn’s new book The Josiah Manifesto, like all his books, contains a mystery but also a key, a blueprint and an answer to what Christians must do to stand and prevail in the current environment in the days ahead.

First, a disclaimer: I’m Cahn’s publisher (and loyal reader) so I’m not entirely objective. I was among the first to read The Harbinger back in 2011 and I’ve read each new book’s manuscript when it came in. To me, each is better than the one before. I personally didn’t think he could top The Return of the Gods which drew the attention of Glenn Beck and many others outside the normal group of Cahn fans. But he did it. This one is even better.

And apparently a lot of people agree. The book ended up as #9 of all books sold on Amazon.com on its release date, Sept. 5. It was #1 in three categories: Christian social issues, Christian eschatology and Christian spiritual warfare.

Doubting God? 4 Verses to Cling to When You Need to Trust Him

Sometimes we experience seasons of doubt and unbelief when God doesn’t move in the way we were hoping for or in the timing we thought He would. Sometimes there are unexpected, outside circumstances that we encounter that lead us on a different road than what we were thinking or planning for our life. Though we want to believe that God’s plans are good and always prevail, it can become easy to question and doubt if He really meant everything that He’s said to us.

Scripture is full of verses to help us cling to the truth of who God is and the purity of His goodness. When we reset our focus on the Lord, we can be sure to discover Him from an entirely new perspective that points to Him as the cornerstone of faith and life.

Hebrews 13:5: I will never leave you, nor forsake you.

Sometimes in the midst of trying to trust the Lord it can be easy to ask, “Where are you?” Doubt is a natural part of our humanity. Part of trusting the Lord is knowing that He is with you. He never has, and never will, abandon you.
