When you hear the word betrayal, I bet many of you have someone’s face flash through your mind. What is betrayal anyway?
In a nutshell, betrayal is disloyalty, unfaithfulness, revelation of something hidden and infidelity.
After reading this, I don’t think anyone grows up and says, “I want that in my bio.” Betrayal is a hard thing that many of us face and I’m confident that if you are someone who has not been betrayed by anyone, over your life span—you will. Betrayal is a hard, painful thing. It can hurt on so many levels. For me, when I experienced betrayal in my own marriage, I hurt in places I didn’t know I could feel. I would experience panic attacks, outbursts of anger and tears. It was cut deep with the betrayal of infidelity and I didn’t know how to even begin to heal from it.
Here were my first steps to healing: I cried out to God with everything inside of me; many times, my only words were my tears. But I know now those are words too.
God heard each and every cry and collected each and every tear. My heart was broken and I brought Him all of my pieces. It was in that very low, vulnerable broken place that God so lovingly began to put me back together, piece by piece.
It wasn’t an easy process, and sometimes the pieces didn’t seem to fit back into place. But one thing I have learned about God is He will never leave one piece of you hidden. He will make it His purpose to find every piece of you, putting you back together into a beautiful masterpiece that only He could do.
That is just what He did for me in my broken marriage. He healed the wounds caused by the betrayal and knitted my husband and I closer than we have ever been in our lives.
Only He could have done this.
