A Kentucky pastor dropped dead from a heart attack while preaching earlier this month. But God wasn’t finished with Pastor Mike Rice yet.
“Every minute that the heart rhythm is not perfusing blood to the arteries of the body, it decreases your survivability by seven to 10 percent,” says Ish Stevens, a church attendee who happens to be a pediatrician. “The chances of surviving an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest are very, very low, unless you can defibrillate. That’s why the guidelines are call 911 and get the defibrillator.”
God had already made a way in Fairview Baptist Church, though.
The congregation recently installed an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) in the room next to the sanctuary.
His doctor thought it was too late. Rice had died, according to the paperwork. But God had other plans.
“He looked at papers; he said, ‘Son, you were dead,'” said Rice. “He said, ‘You’re a miracle. I don’t use that word lightly, but you’re a miracle. You were dead.'”
