Isaiah 48:12-50:11 This passage in Isaiah speaks of God’s greatness and His infinite interest in mankind. This very morning I enjoyed a lesson on the “Fear of the Lord” that gave documented facts about the great expanse of our universe. The teacher shared how many light-years it would take for us to travel to a far galaxy, and it was mind boggling. We are just now coming to the understanding of the vastness of our universe. Yet, God says He spans the heavens with His right hand. The span of my own hand is about five inches or less. Think of how big God is who can span the whole universe with His right hand.
God is big, and there is no debating this fact, but He is not so big that He overlooks the finite needs of mankind. He knows even the number of hairs on our heads. “[God] teaches you to profit, [God] leads you by the way you should go” (Isa. 48:17).
It is by His mercy that God positioned the earth so perfectly that we do not fear being burned up by the sun or overwhelmed by the waters of the sea. At the rebuke of the Lord the sea is dried up, and He is able to make rivers in the wilderness. What a great God we serve. Remember, however, that everything that concerns you is a concern to Him.
There was an incident in my life that proved He is interested and hears our prayers even over the smallest details. My neighbor who lent me her napkins for a dinner party called me in distress because she was missing one of the napkins. I thought I had returned all of them to her. I began to search diligently for the lost napkin, and she even called another friend to pray I found it because she was having a dinner party that evening. The friend’s mother heard the conversation and said, “I wouldn’t bother God by praying for a silly napkin.” These napkins, however, were precious to my neighbor, and they were a special wedding gift to her. Because we all prayed, I was led to look behind my washing machine. There behind my washing machine was the missing napkin, and I rejoiced. So did all of the prayer warriors involved.
God is big, but He is not so big that He cannot hear your prayers over the smallest matters. He perfects everything that is a concern to you, and those napkins were a great concern to me and my neighbor also. God is faithful.
Lord, thank You for caring about the smallest details of my life. I am encouraged now to pray for anything that I am concerned about. You truly care about whatever I am concerned about.
