What Is God Saying to Us Through the Asbury Revival?

There was nothing unusual about the 10 a.m. chapel service held at Asbury University on Wednesday, Feb. 8. Guest speaker Zach Meerkreebs shared a message from Romans 12 about demonstrating God’s love, and the last thing he said in his closing prayer was, “Revive us by Your love.”

Whoever was videotaping the service stopped recording. Eyewitnesses say students began going to the altar to confess their sins after the sermon. Then, students who left the 1,500-seat Hughes Auditorium came back in to worship. The praise team kept singing. More students arrived. By the evening it became obvious that something out of the ordinary was happening.

Continuous prayer, worship and testimonies marked the next few days. There were no famous speakers and no celebrity worship bands. There’s nothing fancy about the building itself—it has outdated wooden seats and stained-glass windows. Yet so many people began to flock to the Asbury campus, located in Wilmore, Kentucky, that the school had to open two additional overflow auditoriums.

Miraculous Testimonies Pour in From Asbury University Revival

Over 100 hours at Hughes Stadium have come and gone, and the heavenly worship is still sounding throughout the auditorium. The Asbury University revival is still underway and has spread to another building on campus.

On Wednesday, Feb. 8th, students at the university gathered together for another chapel meeting. What has transpired since that morning has been nothing short of a move of God.

Students walked in the doors, sat down in a pew expecting another service. By the end of chapel, it was clear this wasn’t just one of their normal mandatory meetings.

Bob Jones’ Revival Prophecy Headlines Super Bowl Win

God uses seasons of preparation to get His people ready and equipped for what is about to come.

The Bible gives a plethora of examples where a person had a calling on their life, but they had to endure seasons of hardship to prepare them for what the Lord had in store for them.

David was anointed to be Israel’s future king by Samuel before he ever fought Goliath, and he was considered a youth at that time. It was no easy path for his prophecy to be fulfilled. He was betrayed and hunted by Saul, suffered living in the wilderness and in caves, moved his parents to protect them from the wrath of the king and even lived with his enemies the Philistines.

The Chapel Service That Launched Asbury University Revival

On Feb. 8th students at Asbury University gathered together in Hughes Auditorium for a chapel service. One week later, that service hasn’t stopped. So what happened that led up to the revival?

Asbury University Reverend Zach Meerkreebs was preaching to the students about love. Now thousands from around the country have flocked to the sleepy town of Wilmore, Kentucky to partake in the miraculous move of God.

In this Charisma magazine video, we play clips and talk about the sermon he shared that has put a spotlight around the university for the world to see.

Jim Garlow: Is Asbury Revival the Third Great Awakening?

People across social media are calling out what is going on at Asbury University as the start of a revival. Jim Garlow was one of the first people to post about the Asbury University revival and what he was hearing from leaders at the auditorium. I sat down with Garlow to talk about whether or not this move of God is the start of the Third Great Awakening.

“I’m praising God. This is a remarkable moment that we’ve cried out for. Now we’ll see what God’s going to do with this. I think this could be the big one, the one we have longed for, the revival that could go global,” Garlow says.

The revival at Asbury University is on day six and it hasn’t stopped yet. People from around the country are heading to Wilmore, Kentucky to experience the first rain in a long drought. What started with a couple of college kids skipping class to worship God after a mandatory chapel service, has led to a packed out revival.
