Bad reports, horrible news headlines and demonic agenda’s may be running rampant across the world but what are you doing to see the kingdom of God go forward amid all that is going on? One youth pastor isn’t just playing defense, but he has made it his mission to go on the offense and see public high school students radically saved and become followers of Jesus.
Youth Pastor, Zack Parkhotyuk with Hungry Generation in Pasco, Washington has a zeal to see the next generation find their true identity in Jesus Christ.
“We’ve tried to get in schools for many years,” Parkhotyuk said in our Charisma News interview. It wasn’t until a young girl came to the youth group at their church and gave her life to Jesus and admitted she had been suicidal that Parkhotyuk was set on fire to see thousands more young people like her find freedom.
Over night everything changed and he wouldn’t take no for an answer. Parkhotyuk started an “Unashamed Club” in one public high school to connect with the students, providing pizza and doughnuts. Students come flocking in to eat the food, but end up staying to hear him preach the gospel.
“What I began to realize is, what these kids are asking for on social media, putting on this face and façade, but what they really need is a miracle,” he says. Although the students may not realize that Jesus is the one to fulfill their needs and desires, they are searching for something to fulfill them.
That search has opened the door for Parkhotyuk to share the love of Jesus. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Just this last week, one student came in to get pizza and leave immediately but another student in the Unashamed Club asked him if he would stay to hear the message. His heart ended up being completely softened to the Word of God.
In 2023, Parkhotyuk believes this revival in public schools is going to continue across the nation with a heart to see people not only find Jesus but be discipled and join in fellowship with the body of Christ. “We are really chasing fruit and not success,” he says.
Parkhotyuk encourages the body Christ saying, as you chose fruitfulness in your life God will come and bless what you are doing to advance the kingdom of heaven. Step out in boldness, whether you are a youth pastor, mom, business man or college student, God can and will use you to impact the lives of those around you. Your life and your ‘yes’ are crucial to see the Great Commission fulfilled.
