Author and apologist Ray Comfort became the lone member of his family to receive salvation at the age of 22. Gratitude for what God has done became the fuel for a high-octane life devoted to biblical evangelism. Comfort’s unapologetic commitment to the gospel will pull you out of your comfort zone to overcome fear and share your faith when you’re compelled by love for the lost.
Comfort is the founder and CEO of Living Waters and the bestselling author of more than 90 books, including God Has a Wonderful Plan for Your Life, How to Know God Exists and The Evidence Bible. He co-hosts the award-winning television program Way of the Master, airing in every country in the world, and is an executive producer of 180, Evolution vs. God, Audacity and other films. He is married to Sue, has three grown children and hasn’t left the house without gospel tracts for decades.
This was one of the most impacting moments in Angela’s riveting conversation with Ray:
Love is more powerful than fear. I know that the waters of personal evangelism are icy cold; you just don’t want to get involved. We’re afraid of rejection, afraid of answering questions: “I can’t do this; I can’t do that; [I’m] not gifted,” etc. But we cannot hold back, because people’s lives are at stake. And so if you have problems with fear when it comes to evangelism, my advice is don’t pray for less fear; pray for more love—because that’s the problem. It’s love that drives me to reach out to the lost. It’s love that overcomes my fears. It’s love that causes me to run at Goliath even though I’m terrified. I forget about my own sinful flesh and the fact that it’s cold and I might be rejected, and I’m thinking about that person. They’re going to hell if they don’t hear the gospel—if they don’t repent and trust in the Savior.
So that’s what motivates me.
