Evangelist Todd White says it’s important to ensure we aren’t prioritizing spiritual gifts above the giver of the gifts: Jesus. Sometimes, people are partaking in ministry work for God but lack a personal relationship with Him (or worse, lack salvation in Him). Are you obeying Jesus and spending time alone with Him, first and foremost?
“If the miraculous is the focal point of the Christian life, then you can do miracles and still sleep with your girlfriend and think that’s OK in the eyes of the Father,” White says. “Miracles do not validate who you are. Miracles are the byproduct of a lifestyle that’s yielded to God. We can’t afford to be people that are so supernaturally minded that healing, miracles, prophecy and words of knowledge become the only focal point.”
