Regina King won the Oscar for best Supporting Actress on Sunday night at the 2019 Academy Awards. She played Sharon Rivers in the film adaptation of James Baldwin’s If Beale Street Could Talk.
During her acceptance speech, King said, “Mom, I love you so much. Thank you for teaching me that God is always leaning, always has been leaning in my direction. … God is good, all the time.” Some audience members can be heard replying “All the time” in solidarity with King.
