Kanye West visited VOUS church in Miami on Dec. 8 to present one of his popular Sunday Services. Pastor Rich Wilkerson, Jr. introduced West as a faithful friend of his for the last seven years.
“He’s been a faithful friend who has encouraged me, who’s believed in me, seen things in me that I didn’t seen in myself,” Wilkerson says. “… I know in this new season you’re in, there’s sometimes a whole lot of criticism. I hope you know that all the people here at VOUS church, we love you; we’re praying for you. … I believe God is lifting you up for such a time as this.”
Wilkerson preached about how important it is to boldly live out and declare our salvation with Jesus—to stay in love with Him. He says it’s easy for Christians to get excited about Jesus at church events, but do we carry that same excitement about Christ everywhere else?
“Tonight, if Jesus is Lord, He deserves much more than just a morally decent life,” Wilkerson says. “He deserves that you would fall on your knees and cry out, ‘Save me, save me.’ … If you’ll surrender your life to Jesus and declare, ‘There’s no turning back. The cross before me, the world behind me,’ I’m telling you what, you’re going to find a peace that surpasses all understanding.”
