This Might Be What’s Holding You Back From Your Divine Assignment

God’s calling over our lives is the assignment that we as children of God possess and are called to carry out. Every day presents new opportunities for us to embrace our call and assignment. There are too many people who spend a lifetime searching for personal fulfillment and never get there. That does not have to be your story.

Have you ever asked yourself, What is my purpose in this vast universe? It may seem like there are enough people to accomplish what needs to be accomplished. So there you sit, in the audience seat, watching a live show. You never know what comes next, but you watch eagerly as you fall into a trance of hopes and what ifs: “What if I could be that person I am watching? What if I could do what they are doing or have what they have?” The more you see, the more you question: How did they get so blessed? Where does their confidence come from? How do they balance so many responsibilities?

Well, I too had these questions. I would add that I often asked, “Lord, when is it going to be my turn? When will I see the blessings, the open doors, the hopes, dreams and desires of my heart come to fruition?”

As time went by, I unintentionally drifted to life’s sidelines and became a working spectator. I say “working” because I spent many years working arduously in ministry but not fully taking hold of all God had for me. Fear, doubt, busyness, conformity and procrastination all contributed to my sideline living—a state of mediocrity and personal neglect that ultimately led to my being unfit to perform His greater plan in my life. And He did have a greater plan.

The awesomeness of this truth is that He did not give up on me, just as He will never give up on you. When I surrendered to God’s plan for my life and let go of the plans I had created for myself, I was set free. Faithful obedience and surrender to God’s will made room for my gifts.

When you accept that, all it takes is a genuine, “Yes, Lord, I will do, I will go and I will be what You have declared for my life,” doors of favor will begin to open. {eoa}
