The Silent Ache: Struggling With Infertility, Miscarriage

Infertility affects nearly 7 million women in the U.S.

Infertility is an issue for many women, affecting nearly 7 million in the United States alone.

It is a problem that may be caused by an underlying medical condition that damages the fallopian tubes, interferes with ovulation or causes hormonal complications.

However, in some women, no medical explanation can be found. Many have gone through multiple rounds of invitro-fertilization to no avail.

And according to national estimates, roughly 15 to 20 percent of all pregnancies in the United States end in miscarriage, defined as the loss of a fetus before 20 weeks.

Susie Carr of Newport News, Virginia, is familiar with the struggle to become a mother. CBN News reporter Charlene Aaron spoke with Carr about the joy she felt when she learned that she was finally pregnant, and how that joy was cut short.

Carr has also written a book about her struggle called A Fragile Heart, her transparent true story that offers healing and hope.
