The Lake Mary team won the Little League World Series Sunday, outlasting the team from Taiwan 2-1 in extra innings. The team from the northern Orlando suburb earned its first LLWS championship and the first for the state of Florida. It is the sixth such straight title for a U.S. team.
“We came here to do something. We came here to do a job, and today we accomplished that job,” Florida manager Jonathan Anderson said to MLB.com. “We took a loss to Texas, we battled all the way back and here we are to talk about how we won this whole thing.”

During the changeover in the eighth inning, Anderson could be overheard on the ABC Sports live broadcast in his pep talk to his team, saying, “A man prayed over me … he said, ‘It’s already been written, we’re already the champs, the Lord already put it in His book,’ we’re just going to finish the story, right here, right now.”
In the Lake Mary dugout, his team calm, yet determined, Anderson continued, “Stay calm, stay composed, stay within yourself. But understand, it’s already been written, it’s already ours, we just have to finish it here.”
