Based on a true story, The Soloist shows the power of music and friendship. Steve Lopez (Robert Downey Jr.) is a Los Angeles reporter who has lost his passion as a journalist. One day while walking through Skid Row, he notices a homeless man passionately playing a two-stringed violin. He thinks Nathaniel Ayers (Jamie Foxx) might be a good subject for a story but soon discovers there is more to Ayers than he originally thought.
As Lopez unfolds how this Julliard-trained child prodigy ended up living on the streets, he sets out to help Ayers get back into music and restore his life—only to find the tables turned on him.
This film received the PG-13 rating for mature themes, drug use and language. DVD and Blu-ray bonus features include a “making of” segment, featurette addressing the homeless in Los Angeles, commentary and deleted scenes. The Blu-ray version also includes the theatrical trailer and the segment “Julliard: The Education of Nathaniel Ayers.”
