Madea don’t play. When she finds 16-year-old Jennifer and her two younger brothers raiding her home, the feisty matriarch (Tyler Perry) takes care of the situation herself: She takes the kids to their only relative, Aunt April. But April (Taraji P. Henson) likes her life just the way it is. She’s a nightclub singer who loves her drinks and lives off her married boyfriend.
When the handsome Sandino (Adam Rodriguez) moves into her basement room, April takes notice. Sandino, trying to correct his own past, challenges her to open up her heart. Soon April must make a choice: her old, hard life or one with a family—and maybe even a newfound love.
This film is rated PG-13 for mature, thematic material.
