A special event is happening on Oct. 14, 2023: An annular solar eclipse will be visible in North America. This eclipse is famous for creating a “ring of fire” in the sky. It will travel across eight U.S. states from Oregon to Texas. If you can’t watch it in person, you can still see it online at no cost.
During this type of eclipse, the moon looks a bit smaller than the sun. It doesn’t cover the whole sun like a total eclipse but instead leaves a ring of sunlight around it.
Everyone in the Americas will see a part of the eclipse, but to see the ring of fire, you’ll need to be in a specific path that goes from the northwest U.S. through Central America to Brazil. This path includes eight U.S. states: Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Even if you’re not in this path, you can still see a partial eclipse online.
This eclipse on Oct. 14 is the last ring of fire in the U.S. until 2039, according to “The Farmer’s Almanac.” The next one after that, in 2039, will only be visible in Alaska and northwest Canada.
Events like this ring of fire eclipse appear to be occurring with increasing frequency.
As Charisma News reported, a total lunar eclipse occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022. This was the first time in the history of the United States that a blood moon occurred on Election Day.
In the book of Joel, Chapter 2, the prophet writes in several verses about the moon turning to blood, the sun and moon darkening and that the Lord will show wonders within the heavens.
This prophecy is echoed hundreds of years later in the New Testament. In the book of Matthew, Jesus Himself says, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days, ‘the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken'” (24:29).
Compound these events in the heavenlies with the growing anticipation of the red heifer’s being born in Israel, and we see millions of Christians and Jews around the world waiting in growing excitement for the next chapter of the biblical end times and the eventual rebuilding of the third temple.
As many enjoy the upcoming solar eclipse, remember the Bible’s teachings about signs in the heavens. These events remind us of God’s power and His promise to return someday. So let the eclipse be a beautiful reminder of God’s glory and the hope that comes with it.
