PorchLight Entertainment | Starring Alexa Vega, Luke Arnold, Timothy Hutton | Rated PG

Broken Hill is a musical drama about Tommy McAlpine (Luke Arnold), an Australian teenager who has a love and passion for music. He hears and visualizes a symphony everywhere he goes. He can’t help but give into the sounds and conduct what he hears—even when he’s in the middle of a field repairing a fence.

Tommy’s father, George (Timothy Hutton), is a demanding man. Even though Tommy wants to please his dad, he has his heart set on being a musician. George can’t understand why his son would waste his life pursuing music.

He gets a break when his music teacher lands him an audition with an elite music conservatory. He has only three weeks to prepare, but in the meantime, he gets into trouble with the law—all because he wanted to impress Kat. Instead of jail time, they both have to do community service together. Tommy opts to work at a nearby prison, hoping he can practice his music for the prisoners.

Even though everything seems stacked against him, Tommy doesn’t give up. He gains Kat’s affections and is able to reconcile with his dad. This story demonstrates that with passion and courage dreams can still come true.

Broken Hill is rated PG for brief language and thematic elements.
