In my years as a banker, real estate developer and Pastor, I have met with thousands of individuals. Most desired to prosper financially, however, few were seeking the combination of spiritual and financial prosperity. According to the Bible, we know that Christians are promised the abundant life.
The word prosper or prosperity are found in the old and New Testaments. In 3 John 1:2 it reads “Dear friends I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as you soul prospers. These are all great promises from our God. But we must recognize that there are conditions to prosperity. In Matthew 6: 33 NLT “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteously and He will give you everything you need”.
Some of you might be saying “I knew there was a catch to financial prosperity”. When I said there is a condition to financial prosperity, it is a condition with many benefits to us. The conditions are to grow closer to God and live a godly life. The Lord is saying the condition to financial prosperity is spiritual prosperity.
There are those who may be rich with money and possessions. However, most of them are not prospering spiritually. Prosperity is defined as “obtaining what God desires for us”. Financial prosperity and success are wonderful when we love God more than either of them. Prosperity is gain in anything good that increases our relationship with God.
Before I gave my life to Christ, I thought Christians had to drive old rusty cars and live in dirty shabby homes. They could not pursue success in business and finance. Well, that was a lie from the devil. His plan is to kill, steal and destroy. The promise of Jesus is to give us life and have it abundantly. Jesus looks at us as overcomers, more than conquerors and prosperous followers.
Do you desire financial prosperity? God is your source for everything you desire. Read His instruction manual (The Bible). It gives us a 100% guarantee to prosper. Embrace the teachings of Jesus to live out his plan for prosperity. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your decisions. God is our source to prosper, Jesus set the example to succeed, the Holy Spirit will direct your path to prosperity.
