For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. —Ephesians 2:8
Human faith works and then waits for the wages. That is not saving faith. Then there is the gift of faith. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” Faith is that which God gave you to believe. “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God” (1 John 5:1).
We read in 1 Corinthians 12:9, “To another faith by the same Spirit.” When my faith fails, then another faith lays hold of me. One time I thought I had the Holy Ghost. Now I know the Holy Ghost has got me.
There is a difference between our hanging onto God and God’s lifting us up. There is a difference between my having a desire and God’s desire filling my soul. There is a difference between natural compassion and the compassion of Jesus that never fails. Human faith fails but the faith of Jesus never fails.
Jesus, thank You for lifting me up. Thank You for filling
my soul with an awareness of Your great desire for
me. I seek You for the faith that never fails. Amen.
