ORU Sells Former Presidential Estate

Oral Roberts University (ORU) has
sold its former presidential estate for $1.55 million.

The nine-acre property was
the home of former ORU President Richard Roberts until he resigned in 2007 amid
allegations of financial impropriety.

Roberts and his wife,
Lindsay, were accused of using university funds to remodel the estate, which has six houses on the premises, 11 times in 14 years. The couple has denied any wrongdoing.

The property has been vacant
since the Roberts’ departure.

Current ORU President Mark
Rutland, who marked his first year as president Thursday, said the sale is “yet
another milestone in the new ORU.”

“I am excited about the
future of the university and believe the best is yet to come,” Rutland said.
