“In small towns and big cities across the country Christians came together on CUFI Sunday to hear their religious leaders discuss the Christian Zionist message,” says CUFI executive director David Brog.
“For some this was the first time they learned about the importance of Christian support for Israel, for many others, these sermons reinforced a long held love for the Jewish people.”
CUFI’s founder John Hagee says that with Israeli soldiers and police facing protests and Iran’s continued efforts to build nuclear weapons to possibly oppose the nation, Sunday’s day of prayer was in good timing to let Israel know that they are not alone.
“Millions of Christians are staunchly committed to standing with the Jewish people, and on Sunday, many of these Christian Zionists went to church, learned about the importance of supporting Israel, and prayed for the Jewish State to at long last live in peace and security,” Hagee says.
CUFI leaders look forward to other events this year that will encourage Christians to stand with Israel. On July 18-20 they will hold their annual Washington Summit which features Glenn Beck as the keynote speaker. Christians and Jews alike will bring awareness and show their support for Israel at the nation’s capital. CUFI expects this year’s event to be the largest in history.
