How often do you find yourself overwhelmed by the situations you’re in? How often are you exhausted from your weekly commitments, your ears ringing from the endless news stories day after day? If you look at the life of Daniel, you’ll see that a commitment to living in godliness provides many opportunities to rely on God’s favor, grace, protection and provision.
You’ll be challenged to look to God when faced with temptation or to turn from His ways. Believe He will either provide a way of escape or the grace to endure. Ask God to give you favor, wisdom, and creative alternatives so you can remain obedient and bring glory to Him.
Daniel’s life provides a model of a dynamic devotional life. After studying the prophecy of Jeremiah, Daniel understood that the time for Jerusalem’s restoration was drawing near. Daniel fasted and interceded on behalf of Israel so God’s will would come to pass. Humility is a key to holiness. Pride will cause us to miss the lessons God has placed before our eyes in order to teach us to love, respect and honor Him with our lives. Embrace humility and holiness. Seek, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to live a life that honors and glorifies the Lord.
Daniel and his friends model unyielding faithfulness to God even under the threat of torture and death, as many others did throughout the Bible. Stress exposes a person’s true heart and character. Even under the threat of death, Daniel gave wise counsel. We should all turn immediately to the Lord when faced with threatening circumstances and gather others to stand alongside us, believing in the miracles God is going to do. Be bold in believing that God will enable you to overcome impossible situations and then be quick to give Him the glory when He is faithful. He will not disappoint you.
Serve God continually and seek to be a living witness of His power and faithfulness. Daniel’s integrity forever the world in which he lived, with God’s help your life can have the same impact on your world today.
