Inspire-GeeseGeese $20

For a single Andrew Jackson you can buy an entire flock of geese. One goose can sometimes lay up to 75 eggs, and her goslings can continue to feed families for generations to come. – heifer.org

Lamp $25Inspire-Lamp

Christians often quote: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” You can follow Matthew 5:16 literally by purchasing a lamp for a home in a Ugandan village. Happy New Year

Psalm 146:1-10 We are fast approaching the new year, and soon we will hear the age-old phrase, “Happy New Year!” Everyone wants a happy New Year. The Greek word for happy also means “blessed.” In fact, the Beatitudes in some modern translations say, “Happy is the man who-.-.-.-” instead of “Blessed is the man who-.-.-.-” Let’s think a moment about the word Beatitudes. When we break this word down, we see it means the attitude of our being. This psalm states the attitude we should have daily as we live on earth. Listen to the words of David: “While I live I will praise the Lord, I will sing praises to my God while I have my being” (v. 2).

It’s the Thought That CountsRecession-plagued consumers have sacrificed a lot this year. Those most affected have lost jobs, faced home foreclosures and piled up personal credit-card debt. Even the most financially solvent consumers have been looking for ways to stretch their dollars.

Most Americans are willingly giving up “luxuries”—such as a salon manicure for a do-it-yourself version or a round of golf at the country club for nine holes at a city course—in anticipation of continuing economic unknowns.
