When Todd Starnes’ new book, The Deplorables’ Guide to Making America Great Again, was released Feb. 7, it shot to the top of several best-seller lists, including that of USA Today. However, for reasons we can only speculate about, The New York Times left it off its list, even though we have documentation that the sales should have put it at No. 2 in its category.
Todd talks about this type of bigotry toward conservatives in general and evangelicals in particular with his own brand of humor, common sense and savvy.
I attended the book-launch party in New York last month and wrote about it, saying that the day Hillary Clinton called half of Donald Trump’s supporters a “basket of deplorables” may have been the tipping point in the election.
Many Americans didn’t like being labeled by the left as “deplorable” or” irredeemable” just because they had a different worldview from leftists like Clinton, who want to fundamentally change the America we grew up in.
Todd, Fox News’ most popular blogger, tapped into that in his new release. It was my privilege to publish this important book.
I wanted to do a podcast with Todd, and I finally caught up with him by phone as he walked the streets of New York City. We talked about why he wrote the book and about suggestions he has for the reader to help take America back again. You can click here to listen.
I was one of the first to read The Deplorables’ Guide to Making America Great Again. It’s humorous because of Todd’s quick wit, but it’s also substantive because Todd is a wise commentator on the shifts in our culture. As a believer, he also brings in the spiritual aspect.
I believe it’s an important book. I urge you to listen to the podcast and read the book. To make it easy, here is a link to buy it. It’s also available on Kindle.
