The day Hillary Clinton ridiculed Donald Trump’s supporters as “a basket of deplorables” may have been the turning point in the election. Earlier, former president Obama called conservative Americans “bitter.”
The mainstream media calls anyone who disagrees with their leftist agenda—like me—a backwater bigot. We are mocked by Hollywood and dismissed by academics. We are marginalized by the media, bullied and belittled by sex and gender revolutionaries.
But all that changed on Election Day. And now Todd Starnes, the popular Fox News Radio personality and columnist, believes it’s time for all the deplorables to get to work.
Since the election, he’s written The Deplorables’ Guide to Making America Great Again. The book released this week and is already in the top 20 of both Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble. It’s already in its fourth printing with all the makings of a bestseller.
I’m privileged to have published this book—our second with Todd. (His first was God Less America, a collection of essays documenting the war on religious liberty.) I’m proud of Todd and grateful this book seems to be resonating.
I flew to New York on Tuesday for a launch party at a restaurant across the street from Fox News headquarters. It was great to meet some of the Fox News personalities and some of the people who work behind the scenes as well as other media people and friends.
Todd has been busy talking about the book. Last Sunday, he spoke at Robert Jeffress’ First Baptist Church of Dallas and next Sunday, he’s at Prestonwood Baptist, also in the Dallas area. He’s doing lots of media, especially on Fox News. Click here and here for videos you may enjoy.
I told Todd I want to interview him on a podcast, but I’m having to stand in line while he does other media! I read his book last month during my trip to the inauguration. It’s a delightful read—full of practical advice on fighting and winning the war on traditional American values yet done with his signature wit. He especially enjoys making fun of himself and his fellow “deplorables” and describes interacting with liberals in his Brooklyn, New York neighborhood and how they went through all the stages of grief on Election Day.
Todd’s radio commentaries are heard on hundreds of stations. And his blog, the most popular on the Fox News website, is read by millions. He has been so successful reversing examples of political correctness run amok, especially when it infringes on the rights of average American citizens, particularly Christians who find themselves victims of the culture wars.
Our marketing team came up with this tag line for the book: “Winning [the election] was just the beginning. Change may have started at the White House, but it finishes at your house.”
If you feel as I do, that America seems to go in the wrong direction yet you have a sense of hope, and if you enjoy humor and a “good read,” you’ll want to get a copy of The Deporables’ Guide to Making American Great Again. It’s available wherever books are sold, online or electronically. You can download a free chapter at deporablesbook.com that contains a link to buy the book. I encourage you to read it and to share it with friends. {eoa}
